Asafoetida, where to begin… One of the GOAT herbs that goes unnoticed and under appreciated. Lovingly called ‘hing’ (hēng) in India, Asafoetida is a regular ingredient in Indian (and similar) cuisines. People, however, only add a pinch per dish because this is a strong herb in taste and shouldn’t be used generously, lest you want to be left with a bitter taste in your mouth… literally.
The main use for this herb is its benefits in digestion, but like all herbs there are numerous benefits of note:

Pro tip from yours truly; if you have tummy issues like gas, spasms and indigestion, take about 1/2 tsp. of ‘hing’ add 2-4 drops of water and roll it in to a small capsule like ball and swallow it with water. You should feel symptomatic relief within 45-60 minutes. This is tried and tested, and my go to when facing tummy related upsets.
